With the Buffet Crampon Prodige Pocket clarinet, the step from early musical education to a wind instrument happens naturally. It is played with German recorder fingering, yet sounds like a real clarinet thanks to its genuine mouthpiece and reed. Even the youngest pupils discover the warm clarinet tone long before they are ready for a full-size B-flat clarinet.

A genuine clarinet tone from fine grenadilla

The body is made of Mozambican grenadilla (Dalbergia melanoxylon), the traditional tonewood of clarinet making. Combined with a B-flat clarinet mouthpiece and a single reed, it produces a full, warm sound that no recorder can match. The instrument is tuned in D and calibrated to a 442 Hz concert pitch.

Child-friendly design, easy to handle

Instead of a complex key mechanism, the eight tone holes are covered directly with the fingers, making the start simple and intuitive. The adjustable, silver-plated thumb rest provides a secure hold and gives the feel of the future B-flat clarinet from the very first note. The range spans one octave, from notated f to notated g1.
