Piano Reality Modeling instead of simple sample playback

Rather than simply replaying recorded piano sounds, the Piano Reality Modeling sound engine calculates the physical behaviour of an acoustic grand piano in real time. The result: unlimited polyphony during solo piano playing, so even complex pedalling and resonance effects sound without dropouts. For the remaining 324 tones – including grand piano, upright, electric piano and organ – 256 voices are available. The Piano Reality Ambience feature places you acoustically wherever you like, with four space types (Studio, Lounge, Concert Hall, Cathedral) and 11 depth levels.

PHA-50 Hybrid keyboard with grand-piano touch

The PHA-50 Hybrid keyboard combines a hybrid hammer action combining wood and molded key materials with escapement simulation and the Ebony/Ivory Feel surface – for a touch that comes remarkably close to an acoustic grand. High Precision Sensing technology captures the finest playing nuances, while the three pedals (Progressive Damper Action, Soft, Sostenuto) with continuous detection and damper modelling allow the subtlest shades of expression.

Room-filling sound, modern connectivity

The Piano Reality Projection sound system combines Cabinet and Spatial speakers with additional near-field speakers for a sound image that genuinely fills the room. Via Bluetooth 5.0 you can connect a smartphone or tablet for audio streaming and MIDI control, for example with the Roland Piano App. 394 built-in songs, lessons and classical studies also make the LX-5 a complete practice instrument.
