The Hokema 12STEI tuning iron is the manufacturer-recommended tool for finely retuning the tines of your Hokema sansula or kalimba. Instead of striking the delicate tines directly with the hammer, you place the stainless steel tuning iron in between and move the tine in or out of its holder in a controlled way. Your instrument stays protected and you hit the desired pitch accurately.

Protects the instrument and membrane while tuning

The small indentation at one end of the stainless steel pin is placed between the hammer and the tine. This spreads the pressure and prevents the hammer from hitting the wood or the membrane. To tune, push the iron with your fingers or gently tap it with a light hammer (Hokema recommends around 50 g) until the tine sounds clean.
