With the Master Series, Kawai is opening a new chapter in piano building. The MS-123 brings the craftsmanship and tonal DNA of the series into its most compact format – an acoustic upright piano that fits effortlessly into any living space without sacrificing any of the quality typical of Kawai. Built on the proven construction of the renowned K Series and refined in every detail, it combines cultivated elegance with over 100 years of Kawai experience.

Masterful Sound

At its heart is a soundboard of carefully selected solid spruce, subtly tapered by hand, which is free to vibrate naturally. A reinforced back with five back posts provides reliable stability so that the sound can unfold unhindered. Despite its compact height, the MS-123 delivers a remarkably full, warm tone with a scale length of 1,200 mm. Hammer materials selected especially for the Master Series and hand-wound bass strings modelled on the Shigeru Kawai grand pianos give every note the unmistakably warm, characterful Kawai sound.

Precise Touch

The Millennium III action with components made of ABS-Carbon is lighter, faster and more stable than conventional wooden actions – for exact control and effortless playing even in the most demanding passages. The extended keys create a grand-piano-like leverage and thus a particularly even playing feel. The white keys have Kawai's exclusive NEOTEX surface with a refined, ivory-like feel, while the black keys are finished in finely textured ebony.

Elegant Design

The gently rounded cabinet with its grand-piano-inspired folding top blends harmoniously into any living space. Inside, every detail bears witness to meticulous craftsmanship: side panels of bird's-eye maple as found in a Shigeru Kawai grand piano and polished brass throughout – from the castors and the pedals to the screws – provide a warm, luxurious sheen down to the smallest hidden detail.

Thoughtful Details

A rarity among upright pianos: the practice mute (for quiet practising) and the sostenuto pedal can be used at the same time. Added to this are a soft-close fallboard, a lockable lock and a steel-reinforced keyboard for lasting stability. A stainless steel pressure bar and high-quality tuning pins ensure long-lasting tuning stability over many years.
