Uncompromising tone thanks to premium materials

The foundation of this exceptional sound is the Strunz soundboard with its three-dimensional crown, combined with newly developed treble and mid-range strings and German bass strings. The reinforced back-post construction – around 20 % more substantial than the previous series – gives the piano a stable foundation for powerful fortissimo passages without loss of tone.

Outstanding touch down to the very last key

The 88 keys with Yamaha grand action feature white keys made of Ivorite synthetic ivory, closely matching the feel, look and moisture absorption of natural ivory. The CX-Series-Special hammers with German felt deliver precise attack with the finest dynamic gradation – from the softest pianissimo to the most powerful fortissimo.

SH3 Silent System: concert grand sound, even at night, on headphones

Activate the SH3 Silent System and non-contact sensors beneath the keys (Articulation Sensor System) capture every nuance of your playing. Binaural sampling, Grand Expression Modeling and Virtual Resonance Modeling then create a remarkably natural headphone sound, including the subtle resonances of a real grand piano. You can also record your playing as Standard MIDI or Audio WAV to a USB flash drive (up to 64 GB) – ideal for practising, analysing and keeping your own interpretations.
