Balanced tone, comfortable playing feel: the MERIDA Scar Junior in Grand Auditorium format

For songwriters and fingerstyle players looking for an agile acoustic guitar with a clear, well-defined tone, the MERIDA Scar Junior in Grand Auditorium Cutaway format hits the sweet spot: more compact than a dreadnought, yet still full-bodied, with a cutaway that keeps the upper frets within easy reach.

Torrefied spruce top and bocote body

The torrefied spruce top has gone through a heat treatment that gives the wood a mature, balanced tone with warm overtones right from the factory, while also making it more stable against humidity changes. The bocote back and sides add rich mids and a clearly defined bass response that stays present even in fingerstyle playing.

Comfortable playing thanks to the cutaway and armrest

The okoume neck sits comfortably in the hand, and the fingerboard is made of Omega laminate. At a 43 mm nut width and 650 mm scale length, the Scar Junior follows classic dimensions, while the built-in armrest takes pressure off the strumming arm and keeps longer playing sessions comfortable.

Fishman PSY-101: electronics for stage and recording

The Fishman PSY-101 pickup and preamp system connects the guitar straight to an amp or mixing desk, with its own equalizer (bass, mid, treble) and a built-in tuner. A phase switch helps reduce feedback in louder environments, and the low-battery indicator gives you fair warning before the battery runs out.

Your advantages at a glance:

• Balanced tone: torrefied spruce top and bocote body deliver a mature, well-defined sound.
• Comfortable cutaway format: the Grand Auditorium body with cutaway gives free access to the upper frets.
• Built-in armrest: takes pressure off the strumming arm and makes long sessions more comfortable.
• Fishman PSY-101 electronics: equalizer, tuner and phase switch in a single onboard system.
• Quality appointments: bone nut and saddle plus D’Addario EXP16 strings from the factory.
