The Yamaha CP73 combines a weighted keyboard with a clearly arranged control panel. Whether you play in a band, build accompaniments or record your own arrangements, acoustic and electric piano sounds are close at hand. Its 73 keys provide room for expressive chords, melodies and changing sound combinations. At 13.1 kg, the instrument can also fit into a mobile performance setup. You choose which sounds support your playing and how much the effects shape their character, keeping the musical decisions under your fingers.

A keyboard that follows your playing

The BHS (Balanced Hammer Standard), matte black keytops keyboard is at the heart of the instrument. Your touch shapes the dynamics, from quiet backing parts to stronger accents. The controls are divided into Piano, E. Piano and Sub sections. This layout helps you combine the sections without working through deep menus for every sound change. Split and Layer functions let you assign different musical roles to areas of the keyboard or place sounds on top of one another. You can prepare contrasting textures for different passages while keeping the essential controls within reach.

Sounds and effects for your arrangements

Yamaha’s AWM2 sound generation provides a maximum polyphony of 128 voices. With the current software version, the instrument offers 129 sounds: 18 Piano, 19 E. Piano and 92 Sub voices. The selection therefore extends beyond piano parts alone. There are 320 Live Set locations for organising your programs, including 128 presets. Seamless Sound Switching allows held notes to continue sounding when you change programs, helping you preserve the musical flow between sections. Effects for the individual sound sections, delay, reverb and a three-band equaliser give you further ways to shape each part for your arrangement.

Connect it to your setup

Balanced XLR outputs and jack outputs make it straightforward to connect to different stage and studio systems. USB carries audio and MIDI, and conventional MIDI sockets are available too. A stereo audio input and a headphone output add further connection options. The supplied FC3A foot pedal is already part of the package, so you do not need to source it separately. A music rest, stand and transport case are optional accessories and are not included with this individual instrument.
